劇情描述湯姆和漢娜是認識10多年的密友；他是玩世不恭的花花公子，她則是渴望婚姻卻總遇人不淑。就在湯姆開始思考要停止四處風流，該認真找個人定下來時，漢娜竟然訂婚了，還情商湯姆來當男”伴娘”。湯姆不情願地答應下來，但其實他的目的是希望在婚禮舉行前，能贏得新娘的芳心…

Tom (Patrick Dempsey) leads a good life: he’s sexy, he’s successful, and he knows he can always rely on Hannah (Michelle Monaghan), his delightful best friend and the one constant in his life. It’s the perfect setup until Hannah goes overseas to Scotland on a six-week business trip… and Tom is stunned to realize how empty his life is without her. He resolves that upon her return, he’ll ask Hannah to marry him – but is floored when he learns that she has become engaged to a handsome and wealthy Scotsman and plans to move overseas. When Hannah asks Tom to be her “maid” of honor, he reluctantly agrees to fill the role… but only so he can attempt to woo Hannah and stop the wedding  before it’s too late.
